About Me

My name is Wes Peterson and I have been creating custom knives as a bladesmith since 2003. I have always been fascinated with the many different designs and styles of quality knives and cutting tools. I remember making my first knife out of an old gardening spade when I was around 12 years old. At the time I only had a hammer, two files and a vise. My mother wasn't extremely happy that I destroyed her shovel, but understood that I was proud of what I made for her.

After finishing college, I returned to my old hobby but with many improved tools, materials and the ability to forge high carbon steel. Over the years, I have been fortunate to receive an abundance of advice and knowledge from experienced knifemakers. I thank each of them for their help and do the same by passing my own knowledge to new knifemakers.

My designs tend to focus on hunting and field knives. However, I sometimes create swords, bowies or other designs when my curiosity sends me in that direction or I have a particular request by a client. In the future I see myself creating more swords with possibly a matching dagger or knife set. If you have a particular idea or design in mind, please contact me and we'll discuss the possibility of a future project.

Currently I live in Savannah, GA and work as a website and database programmer. When not working on something in the shop, I like to spend my most of my free time outdoors.

I am a member of the American Bladesmith Society and the Southeast Branch of the Ocmulgee Blacksmith Guild.
